Heavenly's Dream (Flash-Forward)

My name is Heavenly-Miracle Edwards and I am the only child of Kiara Edwards, the second grandchild of Devonnie Gregg & Nicholas Edwards, and the second great-grandchild of Martha Edwards. In a moment, I will be receiving my degree in Paralegal Studies at Francis Marion University so that I can work alongside my Granddad at his law office, the N. Edwards Law Firm. As I look over at the fifth row in the school auditorium, I see my entire family either cheesing from ear to ear or constantly taking pictures. I understand how excited everyone is, but to see my grandmother pull out a bag of popcorn from her purse is the funniest thing ever! Seconds later, the students in my row stand up and makes their way to the side of the stage. "You ready?" my best friend Michael asked me. "Yep" I said proudly. My name is finally called. " . . . Heavenly-Miracle Edwards" the Principal, Mrs. Grady says. I walked gracefully across the stage, waved, and smiled at the audience. At the end of the commencement, Michael and I walked over to where was family was and recieved instant love and congratulations. "Well congratulations" my grandaddy says to me. "Thank you" I said with a smile on my face, "By the way, this is my best friend Michael; Michael this is my mother Kiara, my grandma "Nana", my Great-Grandma Vonnie, my Granddad Mr. Nick, my Aunt Nikki, and my cousin Damonie" I said introducing Michael to my entire family. "Nice to meet you all" Michael said respectfully. "Nice to meet you too . . ." they responded. "Where do you want to go out to eat?" my grandad asks me. "Golden Corral" I answered. "Alrighty" he replies, "She wanna go to Golden Corral yall". "Cool" everybody else says. "Well I'll let you have your time with your" Michael says to me, "Let's meet back up at your house ok?"
"Sounds good to me" I replied. He kisses me on my cheek, then goes his separate way. "Ooh-wee!" everybody in my family says. "Don't do that . . . he is just a friend" I said. "Are you sure?" my Aunt Nikki asks me. "Yes ma'am" I replied. "Okay" she said. "Well" my grandad says, "It was a long journey, but you made it" I nodded my head and fought back tears. "Everybody's proud of you and we love you, okay?" my grandad tells me.  "Okay . . ." I replied. "You look like you wanna cry" Grandad Nick says. Ughh! the pressure, the pressure!" I thought to myself, "Whatever you do, don't cry Heavenly . . . please don't cry girl". Moments later, the tears come. My grandparents and my mommy gathers around me and comforts me. "Aww" my mommy says, " . . . You're such a bucket of water just like mommy". I laughed at my mommy, then wiped the tears away from my face. "It's okay to cry though . . ." my grandma says, "What's next for you?" I shrugged my shoulders. "I don't know . . . probably hit the pole for a month or two and go half on a baby with Michael" I joked. Everybody starts closing in on me. "Say what?!" my grandaddy says (wanting to laugh so bad). "I'm just playing yall . . . I'm just playing!" I joked, "On the real, I'm thinking about taking a semester or two off to work with grandaddy at the office". "You think you're ready for that?" he asked me. "Yep . . ." i said proudly. "Alrighty then" he says, " . . . We'll see". "I know" he said. "Well let's go eat . . ." he tells me, "Once again I love you and I'm proud of you. Keep up the good work, okay?" I nodded at my grandad and gave him a hug. "I love you too, Pah-Pah".
